Brianna Ross has forged a reputation for being a passionate student advocate. Dedicated to dismantling inequities within educational systems, she has relentlessly pursued the mission of creating more equitable learning environments.
After seven years as an elementary and middle school teacher, she was named the 2022 Maryland Teacher of the Year. She currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Deer Park Middle Magnet School in Randallstown, Maryland. Her work as a school leader is grounded in the belief that teaching must be rooted in love. Ross works to interrupt teacher biases and practices that perpetuate inequity while building teacher capacity to create culturally responsive classrooms. In addition to her work in the school, Ross facilitates professional development initiatives within her school district and across the state of Maryland that empower educators to disrupt inequities within their classrooms and communities.
She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Urban Educational Leadership from Morgan State University.
