As an economic historian, Lisa Sullivan鈥檚 research focuses on the question of meaningful work. A comparativist, Sullivan has explored the history of work and work ethics in medieval, early modern, and contemporary settings. She has written on faculty career satisfaction, the political economy of utopian communities, work and identity, and socio-economic themes in children鈥檚 literature.
In her role as provost and dean of faculty, Sullivan directs and oversees the academic affairs divisions, which includes all academic departments and centers; Library, Information and Technology Services; the Teaching and Learning Initiative; Nexus; the registrar鈥檚 office; and the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum. Prior to arriving at 果冻传媒 in 2022, Sullivan served as vice president for academic affairs and R. Michael Shanahan Dean of the Faculty at Harvey Mudd College, where she had taught since 1990.
