The picture book “Do Doodlebugs Doodle? Amazing Insect Facts” by Corinne M. Demas, professor of English, was awarded the California Reading Association’s Silver Eureka! Award for Nonfiction Children’s Books. The book was co-authored with Artemis Roehrig, illustrated by Ellen Shi, and published by Persnickety Press/Cornell Lab.

Her children’s book “The Littlest Matryoshka,” illustrated by Kathryn Brown, was presented by Picture Book Theatre at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts, in November. Marionettes were created by Therese Donohue and music composed by Karen Tarlow to accompany the author’s recorded narration of the text. A talk about the yearlong collaboration, “From book to stage with author, illustrator, puppet-maker and composer,” preceded the premiere performance.
