A magical place
“I chose Mount Holyoke because I heard about this magical place and how nice the people and professors are.”
“I chose Mount Holyoke because I heard about this magical place and how nice the people and professors are,” says Amy Wang ’22. “I just really appreciate our community. I am never scared about sharing my opinion, coming from a different background. I feel like everyone has always been there for me and is always willing to listen. It feels like a dream.”
Wang describes herself as “definitely a science student.” But she also feels strongly about taking a range of classes. “I fully take advantage of a liberal arts education,” she says. “I took a bunch of history classes, to learn more about American history and the world in general. I think it makes me a better scientist — and definitely a better human being when I have this cohesive learning.”
Mount Holyoke alumnae are a great resource for Wang. When she was exploring what to study, she reached out to several who had studied STEM subjects as undergrads.
“They gave me really useful advice to help me determine where my passion is,” she says. “They told me to pursue the areas I want to, and that I should definitely have the confidence to do so.”
